“I’m fed up, so it’s time to step up. I’m fed up at the status of women’s healthcare in Georgia. I’m fed up that we have battlefield weapons on our streets and in our schools. I’m fed up that urban and rural hospitals are closing throughout our state. And, I’m fed up that elected officials aren’t addressing these issues. For 30 years, I have dedicated myself to this community as a volunteer, an advocate, an attorney, and a small business owner. When my community needs me, I step up. That’s why I’m running for office.”

Georgia State House candidate Susie Greenberg

Meet Susie Greenberg

Susie and her husband, Marc, moved to the Buckhead/Sandy Springs area in 1996 with their small children and determination to build strong and deep connections in their new community. Susie tirelessly volunteered at the kids’ schools, recreational sports programs and the neighborhood service projects to embed herself in the community and create a place where her family belonged.

Susie soon recognized that she could combine her skills as a licensed attorney and a small business owner with her interest in community service to elevate others: a community advocate was born. For over 25 years, Susie has been fighting alongside her neighbors to create safer communities and elevate the status of women, children and families in Georgia.

“Together, I know we can make our communities safer, restore a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions, expand access to quality healthcare, and secure economic prosperity for the hardworking families in our district.”

Since 1996, Susie has been working to build strong community, a sense of independence, and increased economic opportunity for others. In doing the work for nearly three decades, whether as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children, a mentor for legal refugees, a volunteer college counselor for Sandy Springs Education Force, or leader at her synagogue, Susie has committed her life to advocating for those who need it most.

Long before Susie decided to run for office, she was a fixture of grassroots organizations like Moms Demand Action. As an activist, Susie advocates for a woman’s right to reproductive freedom and the passage of common-sense gun laws in Georgia.

Priorities

“I’m not afraid to stand up for what’s right to keep our community safe.”

Reproductive Freedom

I'm the mother of four; I know firsthand what it means to be pregnant and raise a family. I believe the decision to have a child is the most important emotional and financial decision a woman can make. Women should be able to make their own healthcare decisions with their doctors and families, not politicians.

I am proud to have served on the board of Planned Parenthood Southeast to advocate for reproductive freedom for women living in Georgia. As your next state representative, I will continue to fight to restore a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions and ensure our daughters have access to quality healthcare.

Community Safety

Guns are the leading cause of death among children and teens in America; as a mother, as the wife of a physician, as a daughter of a veteran, I am fed up. In 2015, our son was the victim of an armed robbery. We lived the anguish, anger, and pain resulting from random gun violence and its impact on our lives. I believe we must pass smarter gun laws and work together to implement common-sense gun measures that protect our children in the classroom, on the playground and in houses of worship.

We can support lawful gun ownership and make Georgia a safer place for all. In the Georgia State House, I won’t just support common-sense gun safety legislation, I’ll introduce laws including measures for safe storage, background checks, and red flag laws. We must do everything in our power to keep battlefield weapons off our streets.

Economic Prosperity

I want this district to be a place where my children can afford to raise a family. That can’t happen if we are crippled by skyrocketing property taxes, limited access to quality healthcare and an underfunded education system.

As a breast cancer survivor, I’ve experienced the urgent need for quality medical care and insurance coverage. Married to a physician, I know that Medicaid expansion will reduce the strain on our healthcare systems and increase access to quality care for all Georgians.
